Physical cross-border flows
Electricity measured crossing every border in August 2026, valued at this zone's day-ahead price.
| Border with | Out, MWh | at €/MWh | In, MWh | at €/MWh | Difference € |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | 98,557 | 64.78 | 227,026 | 90.10 | −14,070,333 |
| Latvia | 39,142 | 31.42 | 131,703 | 104.02 | −12,469,881 |
| Poland | 97,526 | 75.89 | 19,681 | 71.08 | 6,002,173 |
20,538,041 € for 143,185 MWh that stayed in the country works out at 143.44 € per megawatt-hour, in a month that averaged 79.84.
The first line is energy the country needed and got. The other two — 9,105,919 € together — come not from how much moved but from when: cheap hours to sell in, expensive hours to buy in. That is the price of a timing mismatch, not a loss.
Physical cross-border flows and commercial electricity trades measure different phenomena. ANRE data is shown as an independent official benchmark and should not be interpreted as an exact reconciliation.
Not an invoice. Cross-border electricity is not sold country to country: the markets are coupled and the physical flow is the outcome of a shared auction. These figures value the measured flow at this zone's own day-ahead price, so both directions can be compared on the same scale.
Flows are measured, quarter-hour by quarter-hour; hourly borders are spread across the four quarters they cover, so every megawatt-hour meets the price that was actually in force. Energy entering the country is not the same as energy consumed here — some of it passes through.

Wholesale prices for the interval covering this moment, bidding zone by bidding zone — countries with several zones appear once per zone, with its code in brackets. The average is arithmetic across zones, not weighted by demand: a small zone counts as much as a large one. The figures exclude network tariffs, excise duty and VAT.

Who consumes: the base, the work rhythm, the day
An estimate from the shape of the consumption curve, not a measurement by customer category — that is not published in real time. Three parts: what never stops, what runs in shifts on working days, what switches on during the day.
archive up to 12/09/2026, 23:00:00
Over the last seven days consumption averaged 1,376 MW and ranged between 1,017 and 1,835 MW.
How it was measured: the median of the 02–05 hours over 8 Sunday mornings (1,009 MW) and over 30 working mornings, Tuesday to Friday (1,071 MW), across the last 8 weeks; the average over the last seven days. The parts are cut from one another in order and add up exactly to the average.
The parts are shapes of the curve, not customer categories: the base holds every household's fridge as well as a plant that never stops; the day holds single-shift factories too. “Industrial” and “household” would be words these data cannot defend.
The operator's consumption forecast
How much the country is expected to consume, hour by hour, according to the forecast the transmission operator publishes for today and tomorrow. The line is the forecast; the bars, consumption measured so far.
forecast issued 13/09/2026, 02:19:32 · ENTSO-E
The forecast is the transmission operator's, published on its own platform — not a model of ours. It is revised during the day; for each hour the latest issue is shown. The running hour, in the bars, only shows what has accumulated so far.

Today's storage, hour by hour
Deduced, not read from a key: the generation the feed includes in its total without itemising — by its behaviour, battery discharge. The bar is the hour's average, the dotted line the hour's peak power.
current data · as of 13/09/2026, 01:45:00
The Transelectrica feed has no storage key. The figure is the difference between the published total and the named sources: constant at night, near zero by day — the behaviour of a discharging battery. It is a deduction labelled as such, not a measurement.
How we estimated 109 g CO₂/kWh
This is an estimate, not a measurement. There is no official carbon-intensity measurement for this country, so we compute it from the production mix.
Σ(source generation × source factor) / Σ(generation), over positive values, with life-cycle factors.
The factors are life-cycle values — they include construction and fuel, not just combustion. That is why solar, wind and nuclear are not zero. Source: IPCC AR5 WG3, Anexa III, Tabelul A.III.2 (mediane), version 1.
Caution: 17.5% of production comes from sources with weak factors (biomass, waste, unattributed output). The figure is indicative and not suitable for cross-country comparison.

How the renewable share is computed
Σ(renewable sources, positive values only) / Σ(all sources, positive only).
Numerator: Onshore wind, Run-of-river hydro, Biomass, Solar.
Denominator: 717 MW.
Pumped-storage hydro and waste are not counted as renewable — the first would double-count energy, the second is partly fossil and its biogenic fraction cannot honestly be separated.
Consumption — 7 days
