| ANRE | The National Energy Regulatory Authority — the market's referee: it issues licences, approves regulated tariffs and monitors competition. |
| PAN / PAM | The wholesale market (between generators, traders and suppliers) / the retail market (suppliers → final consumers). |
| SEN | The National Power System — Romania's electricity grid as a whole. |
| OTS / OD | The transmission system operator (Transelectrica) / the concession distribution operators (DEER, Delgaz Grid, DEO, Rețele Electrice România). |
| OPCOM / BRM | The two market operators: the historic power exchange, and the Romanian Commodities Exchange (active in electricity since 2024). |
| PZU | The day-ahead market — the daily auction for each hour; it sets the reference price (PIP). |
| PI (IDCT / IDA) | The intraday market — corrections on the delivery day, through continuous matching (IDCT) or auctions (IDA). |
| PE | The balancing market — Transelectrica buys real-time increases or decreases in generation; deficit and surplus prices. |
| PCCB-LE-flex / PCCB-NC | Centralised bilateral contract markets: extended auction with a flexible profile / continuous negotiation. |
| PC-OTC | The centralised over-the-counter negotiation market. |
| PCE-ESRE-CV | The market for electricity from renewable sources supported through green certificates. |
| PMC-BRM / PCT-BRM | The mixed contract market and the forward market, both run by BRM. |
| PIP | The market clearing price — the price resulting from the day-ahead auction. |
| TG | The grid injection tariff, paid by generators; included in the prices in the report. |
| CPT | Technological own consumption — the losses in the transmission and distribution networks, bought by the operators. |
| Regim concurențial / SU / UI | A contract negotiated on the free market / universal service (a regulated tariff, households only) / supplier of last resort (automatic takeover). |
| FUI | Supplier of last resort — designated by ANRE to automatically take on customers left without a supplier (in May 2026: PPC Energie S.A.). |
| Prosumator | A consumer that also generates (typically rooftop panels) and delivers the surplus to the grid. |
| RRFa / RRFm / RI | The balancing reserves: frequency restoration with automatic or manual activation, and the replacement reserve. |
| IGCC | The European platform for netting imbalances between system operators (imbalance netting). |
| SDAC / SIDC | The single European coupling of the day-ahead and intraday markets — the national exchanges joined into one continental market. |
| C1 / C3 / HHI | The largest player's share / the top three's / the Herfindahl-Hirschman index (the sum of the squared shares; >2000 = a concentrated market). |
