Wholesale prices for the interval covering this moment, bidding zone by bidding zone — countries with several zones appear once per zone, with its code in brackets. The average is arithmetic across zones, not weighted by demand: a small zone counts as much as a large one. The figures exclude network tariffs, excise duty and VAT.

What balancing cost, in the last 24 hours

The source for this country does not publish this dataset. Nothing is estimated in its place.

Who consumes: the base, the work rhythm, the day

An estimate from the shape of the consumption curve, not a measurement by customer category — that is not published in real time. Three parts: what never stops, what runs in shifts on working days, what switches on during the day.

archive up to 13/09/2026, 07:00:00

The base, non-stop
618MW
91.8% of the week's average · the Sunday-night floor: fridges, servers, installations that never stop
The work rhythm
55MW
8.2% of the week's average · how much more a working night carries than a Sunday night: the shifts
The day
0MW
0.0% of the week's average · what exceeds the working-night floor, on average: offices, shops, homes awake

Over the last seven days consumption averaged 674 MW and ranged between 255 and 1,153 MW.

How it was measured: the median of the 02–05 hours over 8 Sunday mornings (618 MW) and over 30 working mornings, Tuesday to Friday (733 MW), across the last 8 weeks; the average over the last seven days. The parts are cut from one another in order and add up exactly to the average.

The parts are shapes of the curve, not customer categories: the base holds every household's fridge as well as a plant that never stops; the day holds single-shift factories too. “Industrial” and “household” would be words these data cannot defend.

The operator's consumption forecast

How much the country is expected to consume, hour by hour, according to the forecast the transmission operator publishes for today and tomorrow. The line is the forecast; the bars, consumption measured so far.

Deduced, not read from a key: the generation the feed includes in its total without itemising — by its behaviour, battery discharge. The bar is the hour's average, the dotted line the hour's peak power.

The Transelectrica feed has no storage key. The figure is the difference between the published total and the named sources: constant at night, near zero by day — the behaviour of a discharging battery. It is a deduction labelled as such, not a measurement.

How we estimated 905 g CO₂/kWh

This is an estimate, not a measurement. There is no official carbon-intensity measurement for this country, so we compute it from the production mix.

Σ(source generation × source factor) / Σ(generation), over positive values, with life-cycle factors.

The factors are life-cycle values — they include construction and fuel, not just combustion. That is why solar, wind and nuclear are not zero. Source: IPCC AR5 WG3, Anexa III, Tabelul A.III.2 (mediane), version 1.

How the renewable share is computed

Σ(renewable sources, positive values only) / Σ(all sources, positive only).

Numerator: Hydro reservoir, Onshore wind, Run-of-river hydro, Solar.

Denominator: 805 MW.

Pumped-storage hydro and waste are not counted as renewable — the first would double-count energy, the second is partly fossil and its biogenic fraction cannot honestly be separated.
