System operator and transmission owner
Red Eléctrica de España (REE) operates the electricity system, balances generation and demand, runs the transmission grid and the submarine cables, and publishes the official real-time data. [1]
Distributors
The local grid, meters, outages and connections are the responsibility of the area's distributor. The Balearic Government lists three, by the first digits of the CUPS code on the bill. There is no official figure for the territory each one covers. [1] [2]
- e-distribución (Edistribución Redes Digitales, S.L.U. — grupo Endesa) CUPS ES0031 · CNMC R1-299

- Sampol Distribución Eléctrica, S.L. CUPS ES0705 · CNMC R1-364
Retailers (comercializadores)
Consumers choose their retailer, under the same rules as in mainland Spain. On the regulated market (PVPC) supply comes from the reference retailers; on the free market, from any authorised retailer. No company is the islands' sole supplier. [1]
Reference retailers with national scope (CNMC list, consulted on 2026-09-17) [1]
- Energía XXI Comercializadora de Referencia, S.L.U. (Endesa)
- Curenergía Comercializador de Último Recurso, S.A.U.
- Comercializadora Regulada, Gas & Power, S.A.
- Baser Comercializadora de Referencia, S.A.
- Comercializador de Referencia Energético, S.L.U.

Electricity market price applicable to the Balearic Islands
This price is not an individual commercial tariff and may be common to several islands.
Spain · day-ahead market (OMIE)
the cheapest third of the hours the most expensive third
The Balearic Islands have no electricity market of their own: REE dispatches the plants, with no bidding. The figures are those of the Spanish day-ahead market (OMIE), in EUR/MWh — a wholesale price, not a bill. The price at which island demand buys its energy is derived from the daily average mainland price, shaped by the hourly profile of Balearic demand (Royal Decree 738/2015, Annex I). BOE-A-2015-8646
The regulated PVPC price, paid by household consumers (in EUR/kWh), is published by e·sios for the Balearics too. We do not show it yet: access requires a personal token from REE.
- Demand, generation by technology and the flow on each link: published by REE for the system and for each island, every five minutes.
- Scheduled and forecast demand: only for the Balearic system.
- There is no market price specific to the Balearics, and REData publishes no prices for the Balearic system. The price shown is that of the Spanish market.
- The Balearic PVPC, the average demand price and the generation cost of the non-peninsular systems: published by e·sios, but accessible only with a personal token. They are not shown.
- REE data is shown for information purposes, citing the source and the time of the last update, in line with REE's legal notice.

Frequently asked questions
Do Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza have different electricity prices?
Not at market level. The Balearics form a single electricity system with no market of its own; the reference price is that of the Spanish market, and commercial tariffs depend on the retailer chosen, not on the island.
Where does the Balearic Islands' electricity come from?
From local plants — combined cycle, gas turbines, engines, solar PV, waste — and from the mainland, over a 400 MW direct-current submarine cable that lands in Mallorca. The islands are also connected to each other by submarine cables.
Who is the electricity supplier in the Balearics?
There is no single one. REE operates the system, the distributors run the local grid, and each consumer chooses their retailer, on the regulated or the free market.
