Physical cross-border flows
Electricity measured crossing every border in August 2026, valued at this zone's day-ahead price.
| Border with | Out, MWh | at €/MWh | In, MWh | at €/MWh | Difference € |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Italy | 177,753 | 139.39 | 4,220 | 235.70 | 23,781,603 |
| Bosnia and Herzegovina | 11,774 | 138.34 | 44,301 | 149.31 | −4,985,716 |
| Albania | 0 | — | 50,842 | 130.37 | −6,628,464 |
| Kosovo | 1,227 | 160.79 | 45,848 | 130.53 | −5,787,170 |
| Serbia | 9,375 | 140.08 | 4,889 | 172.50 | 469,994 |
6,850,247 € for 50,030 MWh that stayed in the country works out at 136.92 € per megawatt-hour, in a month that averaged 149.73.
The first line is energy the country needed and got. The other two — 640,845 € together — come not from how much moved but from when: cheap hours to sell in, expensive hours to buy in. That is the price of a timing mismatch, not a loss.
Physical cross-border flows and commercial electricity trades measure different phenomena. ANRE data is shown as an independent official benchmark and should not be interpreted as an exact reconciliation.
Not an invoice. Cross-border electricity is not sold country to country: the markets are coupled and the physical flow is the outcome of a shared auction. These figures value the measured flow at this zone's own day-ahead price, so both directions can be compared on the same scale.
Flows are measured, quarter-hour by quarter-hour; hourly borders are spread across the four quarters they cover, so every megawatt-hour meets the price that was actually in force. Energy entering the country is not the same as energy consumed here — some of it passes through.

What we sent our neighbours, per border. Energy summed from quarter-hour averages over the days actually covered by the archive. The average power is over the hours in which it flowed this way, not over every hour. A country can appear in both lists: with the same neighbour we import in some hours and export in others.

Wholesale prices for the interval covering this moment, bidding zone by bidding zone — countries with several zones appear once per zone, with its code in brackets. The average is arithmetic across zones, not weighted by demand: a small zone counts as much as a large one. The figures exclude network tariffs, excise duty and VAT.

The operator's consumption forecast
How much the country is expected to consume, hour by hour, according to the forecast the transmission operator publishes for today and tomorrow. The line is the forecast; the bars, consumption measured so far.

The forecast is the transmission operator's, published on its own platform — not a model of ours. It is revised during the day; for each hour the latest issue is shown. The running hour, in the bars, only shows what has accumulated so far.
