This is an ESTIMATE, not a measurement. The result depends on an annual average COP that you enter and on a heat demand that you also estimate. Both vary widely with the climate, the building's insulation and the temperature you ask the system to deliver.

Cost computed at the wholesale day-ahead price. It excludes the network tariff, levies, excise duty, VAT and the supplier's margin — which together are usually larger than the energy component. The comparison is between energy components, not between bills. The comparison fuel's price is the one you entered — we do not measure it.


Why the annual average COP, not the one on the label

The COP on the data sheet is measured in laboratory conditions, at a fixed outdoor temperature. Over a real year the pump also works at −10 °C, where its efficiency is far lower, and at +10 °C, where it is far higher. The annual average — sometimes called SCOP — is the figure that describes the bill.

The calculation uses the average price of the last 30 days. The pump, however, consumes more in winter, when electricity is usually dearer, so the real annual cost is probably higher than the figure here.
