Pentru anul de livrare 2026, mecanismul italian de capacitate — asigurarea că există centrale disponibile la vârf — a contractat 38.265 MW de capacitate existentă la 46.000 EUR/MW pe an și 4.365 MW din străinătate, cu o notă totală de 1.816 milioane de euro. Pe 12 mai, în sudul Italiei și în Sicilia, electricitatea a costat zero timp de nouă ore în șir; în trimestrul al doilea, zonele sudice au stat sub 20 EUR/MWh până la 10% din ore. În august însă, Sicilia a plătit 198,4 EUR/MWh, cu 10% peste referința națională. Între soarele care prăbușește prețul la prânz și serile scumpe, Italia trăiește pe două piețe deodată.
