Capital Dynamics, a Switzerland-based asset manager focused on private markets, has bought two agrivoltaic projects in Sicily with a combined authorised capacity of about 249 MWp, Renewables Now reported on 2 November, citing one of the advisers on the deal. The acquisition had been announced at the end of October, according to Staffetta Quotidiana and BeBeez.
The deal. According to SOLARbytes, Capital Dynamics acquired the entire share capital of two special purpose vehicles holding the projects, following a competitive process. The seller was not named and is described only as a leading international renewable energy investor. The price, the municipalities and the split of capacity between the two projects were not disclosed. Dentons advised the buyer, while L&B Partners acted as legal and financial adviser to the seller.
The figures. Both projects are authorised and ready to build and, according to the parties, will benefit from the transitional FER X support mechanism, introduced by a decree of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security of 30 December 2024 and based on auctions and contracts for difference. With this acquisition, Capital Dynamics' clean energy investments in Italy exceed 900 MW, BeBeez notes.
Background. The group already has projects on the island: in October 2024 it obtained a €185 million green loan from Natixis for two agrivoltaic plants totalling 187 MW in Gibellina (province of Trapani) and Monreale (province of Palermo), built without subsidies for power generation, according to BeBeez.
What comes next. The parties have not given a timetable for the start of construction or for the commissioning of the two plants.
Real-time data for the island are on the island page.
