About power from biomass

Biomass burns plant material — agricultural residues, wood, energy crops — and produces steadily, like a conventional thermal plant. It is the only renewable source that does not depend on the weather.

Its “green” status comes with a caveat: the carbon released by burning is, in theory, reabsorbed by the vegetation that grows back. Our estimate assigns it ~230 g CO₂/kWh — more than wind or solar, far below fossil fuels.
