The peak is read from our own generation archive, not estimated: it is a lower bound on what the fleet can do. A small ratio means the group's sources never all ran together — reservoir hydro starts at peak demand, thermal plants sit idle when they are not called. A ratio above one hundred means the declared capacity has fallen behind: the figure is declared at the start of the year while new units come online during it. Groups are compared here rather than individual source types: the same source can report capacity under lignite and generation under coal, and at group level the two meet.

Luxembourg hosts the Vianden pumped-storage plant — 1,294 MW of turbine capacity, more than the rest of the Luxembourg fleet put together. It does not appear in the figures above, and not because they are missing it: the Luxembourg operator does not count it. Its output is fed into the German grid, and the plant is accounted for there. It stands physically in Luxembourg, but electrically it belongs to another system.
The figures come from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform · Leneda — Creos Luxembourg: installed generation capacity by production type. The year is the one the operator reports for, not the year the figure was published.
Batteries are not here as a source of their own: they fall under “other”. The number of installations is, though — this country’s source counts them one by one, and the average per installation says on its own whether the fleet sits on roofs or in fields.
